    Product Description

    A CLASSIC PIECE

It began in 1946 as an experiment, the iconic DCW Chair by Charles Eames is now dubbed as the Best Design in 20th Century by Time Magazine in its 1999 millennial issue. Dining Chair Wood is a product of a wood-moulding techniques. A design classic that is built to last a long time, as the same moulded plywood technique used to create this beauty was the same one that created the aero plane wings during WWII. This uniquely shaped creation is much more than just good looks, it was designed to fit around the body so the body moves with the wood and not against it. A great addition to anyone’s home.

Charles Eames, US born architect and furniture designer know today for his furniture design rather than his residential projects, one of a few designer in the 1930-1940's who was highly influenced by Finnish and Danish designers of the time. Later on designing with Eero Saarinen he designed the Trophy for the 'Organic Design" awards (New York). Always fascinated with bent plywood for it's malleability as individual layers, and ease of molding then rigid once formed and dry, lead to Eames designing many practical / functional pieces of furniture for US Navy during the 2nd World War. After leaving his first wife for Ray Kaiser, Charles Eames move to moved to LA, where they carried on architecture and furniture design. Later on after the war Charles Eames expressed a more creative side, focusing on commercial and residential furniture designs, whilst still maintaining his career in Architecture, he designed the famous Eames Lounge Chair or other wise known as 670 chair. During the late 50's on wards Charles & Ray Eames created more designs in fiberglass and plastic resin, with stainless still bases, cast aluminum moldings for they're commercial office chair collection. Re-nowed to day as one of the worlds most iconic designers which still stands the test of time for every aspiring interior designer go to piece for they're next master piece.

The name Charles Eames is only used to describe the characteristics of the goods made to the original design, and not as a trademark.
