About Verner Panton
Verner Panton (1926 to 1998) was a Danish architect and designer. He studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and worked in Arne Jacobsen's office before opening his own studio in 1955.
He is remembered for colour and for shapes that broke with the restraint of traditional Scandinavian design, and he often designed lighting, furniture and textiles together as whole interiors. The Flowerpot is the best-known result: two hemispheres, one inside the other, first as a pendant in 1968 and as a table lamp the following year.

What the numbers show
One bulb type for the whole collection. All eight lamps take E27, and none comes with a bulb. That makes it simple to buy bulbs for a room of Panton lamps, but note that E27 is a screw fitting, not the B22 bayonet common in UK homes.
The two Flowerpot pendants are very different sizes. The Flower Pot is 23 cm across; the Flowerpot VP2 is 50 cm, more than twice as wide. One suits a hallway or a row over a kitchen island; the other is a single statement over a dining table.
Only the Panthella lamps are in stock. The table and floor versions dispatch in 48 to 72 hours. Everything else takes 12 to 16 weeks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who was Verner Panton?
Verner Panton (1926 to 1998) was a Danish architect and designer, trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. He worked in Arne Jacobsen's office before opening his own studio in 1955. He is known for bold colour and futuristic forms, and for designing lighting, furniture and textiles together as complete interiors.
What is a Verner Panton lamp replica?
A Verner Panton lamp replica is a reproduction of one of Panton's lighting designs, such as the Flowerpot or Panthella. It is sold as a reproduction, and every Mobelaris product page states that the item is not manufactured by or affiliated with the original designer. In this collection, prices start from GBP 59.50 for the Flower Pot and Topan pendants.
What is the Flowerpot lamp?
The Flowerpot is Panton's lamp of two hemispheres, one set inside the other, first designed as a pendant in 1968 and as a table lamp in 1969. This collection has the small Flower Pot pendant at 23 cm across, the large Flowerpot VP2 pendant at 50 cm, and the Flowerpot table lamp at 48 cm high, all in lacquered aluminium.
What is the Panthella lamp?
The Panthella is a Panton lamp with a domed acrylic shade on a flared steel stem. The Mobelaris table lamp is 40 cm across and 58 cm high and takes one E27 bulb; the floor lamp shares the 40 cm shade, stands 130 cm high and takes three. Both are dimmable with a separate switch, and both are held in UK stock.
What bulbs do Panton lamps take?
Every lamp in this collection takes an E27 screw-fitting bulb, and none includes one. Most take a single bulb; the Panthella floor lamp takes three. E27 is not the B22 bayonet fitting common in UK homes, so buy E27 bulbs, including LED bulbs with an E27 base, before the lamps arrive. Each product page gives the maximum wattage.
Do the Panton pendants need an electrician?
For the Flower Pot, Topan, Flowerpot VP2 and VP Globe pendants, the product pages advise an electrician for installation. The Fun pendant arrives with its shell rows to fit to the frame. Every pendant hangs on a 180 cm adjustable cable. The table and floor lamps simply plug in, with a UK or Euro plug.
What other Panton pendants are in the collection?
Besides the Flowerpots, there is the Topan, a spun steel sphere 25 cm across, from GBP 59.50; the Fun pendant, rows of natural shell discs on a chrome frame in three diameters, from GBP 89.50; and the VP Globe, a clear acrylic sphere with reflector discs inside, 40 cm across, from GBP 279.50.
How much are Verner Panton lamp replicas?
From GBP 59.50 for the Flower Pot and Topan pendants and GBP 89.50 for the Flowerpot table lamp and the Fun pendant, through GBP 115.60 for the Panthella table lamp and GBP 149.50 for the Flowerpot VP2, to GBP 279.50 for the VP Globe. Prices on the grid above are current and include any active sale.
