About the Mobelaris Arne Jacobsen collection
Arne Jacobsen was a Danish architect, and most of the pieces here began as parts of a building. His commission for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark's first skyscraper, ran to every object in it, down to the cutlery.
The Egg and the Swan came out of that building. Their curves were a deliberate contrast to its hard geometry, and Jacobsen sculpted the Egg from foam rather than building it around a wooden or steel frame, which was an unconventional way to make furniture at the time. The Egg was meant to give a hotel guest some privacy in a public lobby, which is why it still feels enclosing in a living room. The AJ lamps belong to the same hotel.
The Series 7 is the other side of his work: a stackable dining chair in moulded plywood on slim steel legs, made for everyday use rather than for a lobby.
For the same chairs chosen by type rather than by designer, see modern lounge chairs and modern high armchairs. For other Danish designers, see Hans Wegner.
The Jacobsen pieces, and what each is for
The Egg Chair and Egg Stool: the statement piece
The Egg Chair is foam over a reinforced fibreglass shell, on a brushed cast aluminium base that tilts and swivels. It stands 102 cm tall, 81 cm wide and 80 cm deep, with a seat at 40 cm, and weighs 35 kg. Upholstery is wool or leather. From GBP 884.50.
The Egg Stool uses the same shell construction on a four-star cast aluminium swivel base, 57 cm wide and 44 cm high, in wool or leather. From GBP 259.50. Both need only their feet fitted.
The Swan Chair: the lighter alternative
The Swan uses the same build as the Egg, foam over a reinforced fibreglass shell, on a four-point cast aluminium base. It is 86 cm tall, 75 cm wide and 64 cm deep, with a seat at 45 cm, and weighs 17 kg. From GBP 439.50.
The Series 7: the dining chair
- Series 7 Chair, from GBP 129.50. Moulded plywood on stainless steel legs, 45 cm wide and 79 cm high, with a seat at 45 cm, 8 kg. The legs fit to the base, and the chair stacks.
- Series 7 Chair, half upholstered, from GBP 189.50. The same shell with an upholstered front in wool or leather, 49 cm wide, the same 45 cm seat, 10 kg, and supplied fully assembled.
For a wider choice of dining seating, see the dining chairs collection.
The AJ lamps

What the numbers show
The Swan is the Egg at half the weight. Same shell construction, but 16 cm lower at 86 cm, 6 cm narrower, and 17 kg against 35 kg. If you want the Jacobsen curve without a chair that dominates the room, the Swan is the one.
The Egg sits lower than it looks. Its seat is at 40 cm, the lowest of the chairs here, against 45 cm on the Swan and both Series 7 chairs. It is built for sinking into.
The lamps take two bulb sizes. The table and floor lamps take E27; the wall lamp takes the smaller E14. Neither is the B22 bayonet common in UK homes, and bulbs are not included.
Only one piece is in stock. The AJ floor lamp dispatches in 48 to 72 hours. Everything else takes 12 to 16 weeks.
What is an Arne Jacobsen replica?
An Arne Jacobsen replica is a reproduction of one of Jacobsen's designs. It is sold as a reproduction, and every Mobelaris product page states that the item is not manufactured by or affiliated with the original designer. In this collection, prices start from GBP 94.50 for the AJ wall lamp.
What is the Egg Chair?
The Egg Chair is Jacobsen's lounge chair for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, sculpted from foam rather than built on a frame so that it could give a guest privacy in a public lobby. The Mobelaris reproduction is 81 cm wide, 80 cm deep and 102 cm high, weighs 35 kg, tilts and swivels, and starts from GBP 884.50.
Is there a stool to go with the Egg Chair?
Yes. The Egg Stool uses the same foam and reinforced fibreglass construction on a four-star cast aluminium swivel base. It is 57 cm wide and 44 cm high, comes in wool or leather to match the chair, and starts from GBP 259.50. Like the chair, it needs only its feet fitted, and it is sold separately.
What is the Swan Chair?
The Swan is the Egg's lower companion from the same hotel. The Mobelaris version is foam over a reinforced fibreglass shell on a four-point cast aluminium base, 75 cm wide, 64 cm deep and 86 cm high, with a seat at 45 cm. It weighs 17 kg and starts from GBP 439.50.
What is the difference between the Egg and the Swan?
Height, weight and enclosure. The Egg is 102 cm tall and wraps around the head; the Swan is 86 cm and leaves the head free. The Egg weighs 35 kg against the Swan's 17 kg, and it sits lower, at 40 cm against 45 cm. The Egg tilts and swivels; the Swan suits a smaller room.
What is the Series 7 chair?
The Series 7 is Jacobsen's dining chair, a moulded plywood shell on stainless steel legs. The Mobelaris version is 45 cm wide and 79 cm high, with a seat at 45 cm, and weighs 8 kg, from GBP 129.50. A half-upholstered version, 49 cm wide, starts from GBP 189.50 and arrives fully assembled.
Can Series 7 chairs be stacked?
Yes. The plain plywood Series 7 stacks, and its product page gives up to six chairs in a stack. That makes it a practical choice where chairs are put away between uses, or where a dining room also has to work as another room. The legs fit to the base on arrival, and instructions are included.
What are the AJ lamps?
The AJ lamps are Jacobsen's lighting from the same hotel commission, each with an angled shade. The wall lamp starts from GBP 94.50 and takes an E14 bulb. The table lamp, 56 cm high, starts from GBP 119.50, and the floor lamp, 132 cm high with a shade that rotates 60 degrees each side, from GBP 174.50. Both take E27.
How much are Arne Jacobsen replicas?
From GBP 94.50 for the AJ wall lamp and GBP 129.50 for a Series 7 chair, rising to GBP 439.50 for the Swan Chair and GBP 884.50 for the Egg Chair. The Egg Stool starts from GBP 259.50. Prices on the grid above are current and include any active sale.
How long is delivery?
The AJ floor lamp is held in UK stock and dispatches in 48 to 72 hours. Everything else in the collection takes 12 to 16 weeks. Each product page shows its own estimate under the Add to Cart button, and timings are confirmed by email once the order is placed.
