The icons in this collection
Seven designs, and no single style between them. They are grouped here by how they are built.
The Egg and the Swan. Arne Jacobsen designed both for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark's first skyscraper, on a commission that ran to every object in the building down to the cutlery. Their curves were a deliberate contrast to the building's hard geometry. Jacobsen sculpted the Egg from foam rather than building it around a wooden or steel frame, which was an unconventional way to make furniture at the time. The Egg was meant to give a hotel guest privacy in a public lobby, which is why it still feels enclosing in a living room. The Mobelaris Swan uses the same build, foam over a reinforced fibreglass shell, on a four-point cast aluminium base.
The Eames Lounge Chair 670. A traditional English club chair reinterpreted in moulded plywood and leather, on a cast aluminium base that swivels. Two versions are in the grid, in walnut veneer from GBP 614.50 and rosewood veneer from GBP 619.50, with identical dimensions.
The Comfort Style lounge sofa. Michel Ducaroy's 1973 design has no frame at all. It is polyurethane foam throughout, which is why it weighs 20 kg and why it collapses around you rather than supporting you from beneath.
The Danish wooden chairs. Three chairs with a visible wooden structure. The Shell Chair CH07 is laminated plywood with real wood veneer and a leather seat, on three legs. The CH25 Easy Chair is solid ash with a woven natural reed cord seat and back. The Finn Juhl No. 45 is solid ash with an upholstered seat and back.

Three very different ways to sit
All eight products are verified against their product pages. These three span the range, and choosing between them is mostly a decision about how you want to be held.

What the numbers show
The height range is the real decision. The three pieces in the first table run from 70 cm to 102 cm tall. That is a 32 cm spread, and in an open-plan room it changes whether the chair sits below the sightline or blocks it. The Egg is a room divider as much as a chair; the Comfort Style disappears.
Weight runs opposite to size. The Comfort Style is the largest footprint at 101 cm deep and the lightest at 20 kg, because there is no frame in it. The Egg has the smallest footprint of the three and is the heaviest at 35 kg, because of the shell and the cast base. Weight here tells you about construction, not about size.
Seat heights span 8 cm across the collection, and it matters more than it sounds. The Shell Chair and the CH25 sit at about 37 cm, low enough that getting out takes effort. The Swan sits at 45 cm, close to a normal armchair. If the chair is for someone who finds low seats difficult, that difference is the whole decision.
Only two pieces are in stock. The CH25 Easy Chair and the Finn Juhl No. 45 dispatch in 48 to 72 hours. Everything else takes 12 to 16 weeks, so order well ahead of a date.
What to check before you buy
Four things that are easy to miss and awkward to fix afterwards.
Measure the depth, not just the width
Lounge chairs are deeper than people expect. The Comfort Style is 101 cm front to back, more than a metre of floor taken up by one seat, before you add room to walk past it.
Width is what people measure; depth is what causes the problem.
Decide whether you want it to move
The Eames 670 swivels through 360 degrees and reclines to a fixed 15 degrees. The Egg tilts and swivels. The Comfort Style and the wooden chairs do neither.
A chair that swivels is a chair you can turn towards a conversation or a window without lifting it. A chair that does not is a chair you place once and commit to.
Check what arrives and what you assemble
Assembly varies more than you would expect across this collection. The Comfort Style, the CH25 and the No. 45 arrive fully assembled. The Egg and the Swan need their feet fitted. The Shell Chair needs simple assembly, and the Eames 670 assembles top to base.
Mobelaris does not offer assembly as part of standard delivery, though the support team can arrange a quote.
Allow for the lead time
Two pieces are in UK stock and six take 12 to 16 weeks. Each product page carries its own estimate under the Add to Cart button.
If you are buying more than one piece, the longest lead time sets the date for the room.
What is a modern lounge chair?
A modern lounge chair is a low, deep chair designed for extended sitting rather than for a table. It sits lower and deeper than an armchair and is shaped to recline the body slightly. In this collection, seat heights run from about 37 cm to 45 cm and depths from 64 cm to 101 cm, against 42 to 45.5 cm for the Eames dining chairs elsewhere on the site.
Which lounge chairs are considered design classics?
Four in this collection are widely treated as classics: Arne Jacobsen's Egg and Swan, the Eames Lounge Chair 670 of 1956, and Michel Ducaroy's 1973 lounge sofa, sold here as the Comfort Style. Alongside them are three Danish wooden chairs: Hans Wegner's Shell Chair CH07 and CH25 Easy Chair, and the Finn Juhl No. 45.
What is the Egg Chair?
The Egg Chair is Arne Jacobsen's design for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. Its enclosing shell was sculpted from foam rather than built on a wooden frame, which was unusual at the time. The Mobelaris reproduction measures 81 cm wide, 80 cm deep and 102 cm high, weighs 35 kg, and both tilts and swivels.
What is the Eames Lounge Chair 670?
The 670 is the lounge chair Charles and Ray Eames designed in 1956, a traditional English club chair reinterpreted in plywood and leather. The Mobelaris reproduction is 87 cm wide, 87 cm deep and 82 cm high, weighs 29 kg, swivels through 360 degrees and has a fixed 15-degree recline. It comes in walnut or rosewood veneer.
What is the Comfort Style lounge sofa?
It is a replica of Michel Ducaroy's 1973 lounge sofa, which has no frame at all. It is polyurethane foam throughout, upholstered in Alcantara, velvet or bouclé. At 89 cm wide by 101 cm deep with a 38 cm seat height, it is the deepest piece in this collection, and it arrives fully assembled.
How much do designer lounge chair replicas cost?
The pieces in this collection run from GBP 399.50 for the Shell Chair CH07 to GBP 884.50 for the Egg Chair. In between are the Swan at GBP 439.50, the CH25 at GBP 444.50, the No. 45 at GBP 544.50, the Eames 670 from GBP 614.50 and the Comfort Style at GBP 759.50. Each piece is sold as a reproduction, and every Mobelaris product page states that the item is not manufactured by or affiliated with the original designer.
What is the right seat height for a lounge chair?
It depends on who is sitting in it. In this collection seats run from about 37 cm on the Shell Chair and the CH25 to 45 cm on the Swan. Lower seats feel more enclosing and take more effort to rise from; higher seats are easier to get in and out of. If that matters, choose from the upper end of the range.
Do lounge chairs swivel?
Some do. The Eames Lounge Chair 670 swivels through 360 degrees and has a fixed 15-degree recline. The Egg Chair tilts and swivels on its cast aluminium base. The Comfort Style has no base to swivel on, and the wooden chairs stand on fixed legs. Check the specification on the individual product page.
Do the chairs arrive assembled?
It varies. The Comfort Style, the CH25 Easy Chair and the Finn Juhl No. 45 arrive fully assembled. The Egg and the Swan need their feet fitted. The Shell Chair needs simple assembly, and the Eames 670 assembles top to base with instructions included. Mobelaris does not offer assembly as standard, though support can arrange a quote.
How long is delivery?
Two pieces are held in UK stock and dispatch in 48 to 72 hours: the CH25 Easy Chair and the Finn Juhl No. 45. The other six take 12 to 16 weeks. Each product page shows its own estimate under the Add to Cart button, and timings are confirmed by email once the order is placed.
