How much room a 3 seater sofa needs
Length and depth vary more between these designs than most buyers expect. Measure the wall and the walkway first, then match a sofa to them.
Length runs from 175 to 240 cm
The longest piece, the LC3 Style 3 Seater Grand Sofa, is 65 cm longer than the shortest, the Comfort Style 3-Seater Sofa. Divided by three, that is 58 to 80 cm of length per seat. The Comfort Style, LC2 Style Petit and GE 290 sofas sit at 175 to 186 cm; the PK31, the 2213 and the sofa on a stainless steel base run from 199 to 229 cm.
Depth decides the walkway
The two foam Comfort Style sofas are 100 to 101 cm deep, which is 19 to 31 cm more than the framed pieces. The LC2 Style Petit and the LC3 are the shallowest, at 70 cm. In front of a coffee table or along a through route, that difference is the space left to walk.
Stepping up from a two-seater
Four of these designs also come as 2-seaters. Going from two seats to three adds 42 cm to the Comfort Style sofa, 48 cm to the LC2 Style Petit, 56 cm to the GE 290 and 70 cm to the sofa on a stainless steel base. The depth stays the same in each pair. More LC2 and LC3 pieces are on the Le Corbusier page, the GE 290 range on the Hans J. Wegner page, and the PK31 on the Poul Kjærholm page.
How big is a 3 seater sofa?
Among the eight compared here, widths run from 175 to 240 cm, depths from 70 to 101 cm and heights from 69 to 82 cm. The deep foam Comfort Style sofas need about a metre of floor, while the LC2 Style Petit and the LC3 need 70 cm. Each product page lists the full dimensions, so measure the space against the exact listing.
How high is the seat on a 3 seater sofa?
It ranges from 35 to 48 cm on the seven pieces here that list a seat height. The foam Comfort Style sofas are lowest, at 35 and 38 cm. The PK31, GE 290 and the sofa on a stainless steel base sit at 40.5 to 43.5 cm, and the 2213 at about 47 cm. The LC2 Style Petit page lists 48 cm, and the LC3 page gives no seat height.
Do the 3 seater sofas arrive assembled?
Yes, all eight compared here are listed as fully assembled, so there is nothing to put together. The other side of that is size: the sofa arrives at full length, between 175 and 240 cm before packing. Check the packed dimensions on the product page against every door, hallway and stair turn on the way in.
Will a 3 seater sofa fit through my door?
Check the packing dimensions on the product page. Among the eight compared here, the smallest packed measurement runs from 63 cm (the sofa on a stainless steel base) to 83 cm (the 2213), and the longest from 180 to 244 cm. Compare the smallest figure with your narrowest door, and the longest with any turn on the stairs.
What upholstery can I choose?
It depends on the sofa. Five of the eight compared here come in leather: the LC2 Style Petit, the LC3, the 2213 and the PK31, plus the sofa on a stainless steel base, which is also offered in wool. The GE 290 is wool. The two Comfort Style sofas are fabric: velvet, Alcantara or bouclé on one listing, and microfibre on the other.
How do I care for a 3 seater sofa?
Follow the care line on the product page. For the fabric pieces, the pages suggest regular vacuuming and a mild upholstery cleaner for marks; the bottle green Comfort Style page also suggests rotating and plumping the cushions. For leather, dust and use a leather cleaner, and the LC3 page adds a soft cloth and conditioner.
Are these modern or classic designs?
Both. The product pages describe the Comfort Style sofas as contemporary or modern mid-century, the LC3 as a large modern leather sofa, and the sofa on a stainless steel base as classic modern. The PK31 is described as a classic leather sofa, and the 2213 page calls it a classic piece of Danish modernism.
Is there a matching 2 seater?
For several designs, yes. The Comfort Style, LC2 Style Petit and GE 290 sofas and the sofa on a stainless steel base all have 2-seater versions in the same materials. The specifications for the 2213, the PK31 and the sofa on a stainless steel base also note that they work well as a pair. Search the design name to see the matching pieces.
Are the 3 seater sofas in stock?
Some pieces and finishes are held in stock for faster dispatch, and others take longer. All eight compared here show a longer lead time, so check the line under the Add to Cart button on the product page for the piece and upholstery you choose. The delivery date is confirmed by email once the order is placed.

The product pages credit the Comfort Style sofas to Michel Ducaroy, the GE 290 to Hans J. Wegner, the LC2 Style Petit and LC3 to Le Corbusier, the 2213 to Børge Mogensen and the PK31 to Poul Kjærholm.
